Orgain Organic Protein Powder is a plant-based protein powder, GMO free, soy free, gluten free and vegan. But what I liked most about it is that it has only 5 net grams of carbohydrates per serving.
As someone who is currently watching every carbohydrate I ingest, as well as the source of the carb, I was thrilled to give this protein shake a try. As the directions suggested, I mixed my shake with sugar-free almond milk. I decided to use my Ninja blender, because it makes a mean smoothie.
The Taste: I give it 3 out of 5. It was good, not great. I could taste that this was a plant-based protein powder, and from time to time I’m fine with that. I actually prefer a vanilla shake to most other flavors, so that was nice.
The Texture: Mixed with almond milk and blended in a Ninja, the texture was spot on. Not too grainy, not too watery. I think I would add crushed ice next time to give it a chill.
Who will love this: Vegans, vegetarians and carb counters.
Who won’t: This product does contain organic stevia as a sweetener. Some folks love it, others don’t.
My final take: I would like this shake from time to time. I’m not sure an entire tub of this is for me. I prefer the milkshake taste of Atkins shakes to the plant based protein shakes. But for folks with milk, soy and gluten allergies, I think this shake is a win!
